Move over Bloody Mary, Rancho Mexico Coffee is my new favorite festive morning libation.

This coffee cocktail is the Mexican cousin of Irish coffee. Instead of whiskey, mezcal is the liquor of choice with its smokey flavors and complex nuances. Mezcal is the broad term used for all tequilas meaning cooked agave. Agave is the succulent plant that is used to make mezcal/tequilas.

Mexico Rancho San Francisco is the specialty coffee used in this recipe. It is naturally grown and processed without chemicals and is considered one of the most underrated and undervalued coffees in Central America. I am a big fan of this delicious medium body, medium acidity coffee with a slight smokey almond taste and pairs perfectly with the mezcal.
