Welcome New Year!

Make this the year you commit to “gaining health.”

I say this because most people list “losing weight” as one of their New Year’s resolutions. But losing weight should not not be the goal; the goal should be achieving your best health so you reach your optimum weight naturally.

We have it backwards in this country; the focus is on weight loss and dieting. Trying to solve a problem created by a complicated food landscape — intentionally obscuring how we should eat — to be well. The message we are getting is to be thinner, not healthier. The reality is, we need to put health first, and the rest will fall into place.

I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions any more than I believe in diets.

There are so many diets out there it is overwhelming. Whole 30, The Blood Type Diet, Intermittent Fasting, Keto, Paleo, the list goes on and on.  While there are potential benefits to all of them, in the end, they are not sustainable. This is because being on a diet makes it hard to have a life.

The fact is most people who go on diets do lose weight, but when they go off the diet, they gain the weight back — plus a few pounds!

Diets are no more sustainable than New Year’s resolutions.

I DO believe in the power of little every day habits to change our lives.

The are BIG cumulative benefits of creating an environment and the daily rituals that make us healthier, happier and more in control of our lives.

Biohacking our lives means we are controlling the input to create the desired outcome.

Wake up! Living mindlessly is dangerous. You are the architect of your own wellness. You decide what goes in and on your body, the thoughts in your head, and the people you invite into your life. Choose carefully and be conscious.

So pivot how you are thinking. Instead of big, daunting resolutions, embrace the idea that it is actually the small things that matter. Focus on what you can accomplish and control in a day.

Make each day a stepping stone toward gaining your best health!
